Drama's EGM

The time has come once more for DCU Drama's EGM!!!

Located once more on the ground floor of the Henry Grattan building in the confines of CG12, the meeting promises a whole lot of exciting news and events such as:

- Election of two new committee positions, FIRST YEAR REP and ASSISTANT PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER.

- An overview of the exciting year ahead, including the announcement of this years musical.

- Details on theatre trips, mystery tours, general shenanigans and the chance to go to BROADWAY NEW YORK for a mere fiver.

Get your behinds to CG12 on Thursday October 6th to hear about all the fantastic stuff we have in store for you this coming year.

We'll be taking deposits for the Broadway trip on the night. There's only 30 places up for grabs and will be filled on a first come first serve basis so be prepared! Dates of the trip are Mon 30th Jan - Fri 3rd Feb. Deposits will be €200. Full price of the trip is €550 with the remainder collected toward the end of first semester.

Food will be provided afterwards and perhaps a few cheeky pints wouldn't go amiss ;)

A message to all First Years

Feeling Nervous?? You should be!! You're just starting in college, and, as everyone says, in many ways , this is the beginning of the rest of your life.

Stressful, right?? Well, you needn't freak out, for DCU Drama is here to save the day!!

Whether you wish to have your ego stroked, by perfoming in front of hundreds of people, or you simply wish to be one of the all-important stage-hands, there is a role in DCU Drama for you. (as well as a huge amount of craic to be had, but that goes without saying ;) )

Some of you may have seen us perform "Damnit Janet!!" and "Time Warp" from "The Rocky Horror Show." This is only a small taster of what DCU Drama is capable of!

If you wish perform in a Grandiose musical, where we pull out all the stops, then the DCU Musical will be right up your alley. If, on the other hand, your taste in Drama is more Brechtian in nature, the minimalistic "New Writers Festival" (featuring a variety of plays written by YOU!!) will suit you down to the ground! Hell, we may even put on some Shakespeare (if that sort of Drama floats your boat)

If you're unsure about performing, we recommend that you at least give our Drama workshops a shot, where there is an unreal amount of craic to be had, as well as offering an opportunity to get to know our lovely members :)

If any of the above has stoked your interest, we recommend you mosey on down to the Hub during Clubs and Socs week, where we will be manning a stall at which you can sign up to our lovely Society. (If you sign up early enough, goodies may even be provided ;) )*

So, whether you are the freshest-faced first year, or a dogged masters student, we hope to see you ( and sign you up) during clubs and socs week.

Passing the Torch

So, today is the day the latest version of the DCU Drama website goes live. You may notice a few changes from the old design.( for example, you can now use the drop downs on the navigational bar at the top to skip to various parts of the site.)

The main design goals for this site were to create a thinner, sleeker, and more accessible site than previous iterations. As well as this, I personally felt that it was important to incorporate as much historical content on the site as possible. This involved an healthy number of trips in the Wayback Machine. But, I feel those trips were worth it. Ultimately, DCU Drama is as much about its members as it is about anyone else. By increasing the amount of historical information on the site, I feel that we are honoring the heritage, and past members of this amazing society.

So, take a look in our image gallery, marvel at what DCU Drama has achieved since its inception (sometime before DCU was known as DCU!!). Or, read up on the committee members, who've made DCU Drama possible over the years. And finally, use the Events and Workshops pages to keep up to date on exactly what DCU Drama is doing during the year ahead.

This site has been a labour of love for me. I hope you enjoy it!!
