Musical Auditions are here

- 8th December 2011

If you are going for a lead role please have a song from the character you want learned off. It is highly recommended that any of you going for a lead role ALSO learn the callback songs indicated on the audition material list in the event you are called back. Be prepared. For chorus please come with a song of your choice prepared. Bring sheet music if you have it. Everyone needs to be prepared to read dialogue for a character for the audition no matter if you are going for chorus or a lead everyone must read. Dialogue will be given to you if you do not have it with you. It is recommended that you bring your own. Chorus may look up dialogue for a character of their choice and request to read it when they get there. LEARN YOUR SONG OFF BY HEART. Lyric sheets in hand for your singing audition will not be allowed. A mail was sent last Thursday to all members with all audition material for each character. If you did not receive it please email our secretary Oisin at sec@dcudrama.ie and he will forward it on to you. Remember if you want to impress our directors it is best to have the dialogue and songs for your character learned to a tee. Here are the audition dates, we are sending this mail to you now so you can plan your week. There will be no exceptions made for anyone if you cannot attend for any of these times so make yourself available. These are set times and dates that must be adhered to.

PLAY IN A DAY (along with a little musical audition workshop!!)

- 05th December 2011

So, after the insanity that was "Crappily Ever After"(which was extremely successful, by the way, selling out two nights, and being packed the other night), what could DCU Drama possibly have lined up for the end of the Semster??

Well, read on, and discover the exciting events which we have in store for you within the next two weeks.

Musical Audition Workshop:

Our workshop this week is the Musical Audition Workshop, if anyone's interested in auditioning for the musical, then it's strongly recommended that you attend this workshop. There was audition material sent out to all our members during the week, so you should look through those mails and read through the material for the character that you would like to audition for.

The workshop will be hosted by the Director of the musical Emma-Jane Reilly and the Musical Director Kevin Walsh, and it'll be on Monday December 5th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Space in the Helix, and you must enter through the Stage Door of the Helix and sign in.

Play in a Day:

This week we'll be having our Play in a Day event, the idea behind it is that you'll be put in groups and given a theme, and from that theme you have to create a play in the space of a few hours, so you'll write a script, get costumes together and get all your props. Then at the end of the day, you'll put on your show which will be viewed by an audience.

Play in a Day will take place on Wednesday December 7th, with a workshop at 2:00 pm to get you warmed up and so you fully understand the concept, and the the shows will take place at 8:00 pm in the Space in the Helix.

Aladdin:

We've decided to have one more theatre trip before the end of the semester, and rather that trek across the city we've decided to go and see Aladdin in The Helix. So if you're interested in going to see Aladdin, email Lisa Keegan at vicechair@dcudrama.ie

And finally, a DCU Drama alumni, Clodagh Long, is having an event to fund-raise for her masters degree in Musical Theatre at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. So if you're interested in attending, here's the link to the event on Facebook event page , and you can get all the details there.
